Carbon Laser Facial

The Carbon Laser Facial, also known as the Hollywood Facial or Carbon Peel Laser, is an advanced laser treatment in which our skin therapist applies a layer of liquid activated carbon to the skin. The carbon is drawn deep into the pores. An Nd:YAG laser is then passed over the skin: the laser heats and vaporises the carbon, removing blackheads, sebum build-up and dead skin cells in the process. Simultaneously, the heat stimulates collagen production and refines pores. The treatment lasts 45 minutes and has no significant downtime.

The Carbon Laser Facial is particularly effective for enlarged pores, oily and congested skin, blackheads and mild acne, a dull or uneven complexion, superficial pigmentation spots, fine lines and the first signs of skin ageing. The treatment is also excellent as a skin reset before a special occasion, since results are immediately visible. Our skin therapist assesses during the intake whether your skin is suitable for laser treatment.

For a one-off glow or skin reset, 1 session is sufficient. For structural improvement of pores, acne or pigmentation our skin therapists recommend a course of 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. This gives the skin sufficient recovery and collagen-building time. After the course, 1 session every 6 to 8 weeks as maintenance is ideal to sustain results.

The Carbon Laser Facial is well-tolerated. When the carbon is applied the skin feels pleasantly cool. When the laser heats and vaporises the carbon you experience a light warm, tingling or snapping sensation, as if small sparks are touching the skin. This is normal and brief per zone. Our skin therapist adjusts the laser intensity to your comfort and skin type. An anaesthetic cream is generally not needed.

Downtime is minimal. Directly after treatment the skin may feel slightly pink or warm; this usually subsides within 1 to 2 hours. Mild flaking for 1 to 3 days is possible after a first session. There is no bruising, crusting or prolonged redness. Our skin therapist always closes the treatment with a soothing cream and advises SPF and mild products for the rest of the day.

The immediate result is impressive: directly after the session the skin looks more radiant, more even and cleaner, and pores noticeably feel smaller. This immediate effect makes the Carbon Laser Facial a popular choice for the day before a photoshoot or event. Long-term results, such as measurable pore reduction and texture improvement, are visible after a course of 4 to 6 sessions.

Laser treatments require extra attention in summer. Directly after treatment the skin is temporarily more sensitive to UV radiation. Our skin therapist recommends avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 48 hours after each session and always using SPF 30 or higher. In the summer months we preferably schedule sessions in the evening or on days when you will not be spending time in strong sun. Active sunburn or a fresh tan is a contraindication.

We advise not wearing make-up for the first 24 hours after treatment so the skin can recover undisturbed. After that you can use regular make-up. Prefer mineral or lightweight products. Avoid products containing alcohol, retinol or AHA/BHA acids for the first 48 hours, as the skin is slightly more sensitive after a laser treatment. We advise against laser treatments during pregnancy as a precaution due to heat and energy transfer to the skin. During breastfeeding the treatment is generally possible, but we always advise consulting your midwife or GP beforehand. Our skin therapist will gladly discuss alternative treatments that are safe during this period.
