Step by step
Every skin reacts differently. Below you will find an overview of what you can expect before, during and after the treatment.
Before treatment
Evaluation of your skin type and the nature of the vascular concern. Avoid sun exposure and irritating products beforehand.
Treatment
The laser selectively targets haemoglobin in dilated blood vessels without damaging surrounding tissue. Takes 15-30 minutes.
Aftercare
Mild redness and temporary discolouration are normal. Results develop gradually over 1-3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
The Nd:YAG laser is effective for treating superficial and deeper-lying blood vessels, such as spider naevi, couperose, angiomas, rosacea, and small varicose veins on the body or face.
The laser sends concentrated energy to the blood vessels, causing the vessel walls to contract and the body to break them down. This process evens out the skin and reduces redness.
* Avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF 30+ for at least 4 weeks before the treatment. * Stop using self-tanners at least 2 weeks beforehand. * Do not use aggressive skincare products such as retinol or exfoliating creams for one week before the treatment. * Ensure the treatment area is clean and free of makeup on the day of the treatment.
The treatment may cause some warmth or a mild tingling sensation, but most people find it well tolerable. A cooling gel is often used for comfort.
This depends on the number of vessels and the area being treated. Smaller treatments take an average of 15 to 30 minutes.
Often 1 to 3 treatments are sufficient for optimal results. For extensive or deeper-lying vessels, more sessions may be needed. Treatments are scheduled at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks.
The treatment is not suitable if you: * Are pregnant or breastfeeding. * Have an active skin infection or wounds in the treatment area. * Use medication that causes photosensitivity. * Have recently been exposed to the sun or are tanned.
* Temporary redness, swelling or mild bruising may occur. * The treated vessels may appear darker before gradually fading. * It is important to avoid direct sunlight and use SPF 30+ to prevent further damage.
Some vessels disappear immediately after the treatment, while others gradually fade within 1 to 4 weeks.
* Avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreen with SPF 30+ daily. * Avoid heat, such as saunas or hot baths, for 48 hours. * Do not use aggressive skincare products for one week. * Keep the treated area clean and avoid makeup for 24 hours.
Yes, there is minimal recovery time. You can resume your daily activities almost immediately, with the exception of intense physical exercise.
The treated vessels disappear, but new vessels may develop in the future due to genetics, ageing or sun exposure. Maintenance treatments may be necessary.
Costs vary depending on the size of the treated area and the number of sessions. Smaller zones typically start from around €75.
Yes, the Nd:YAG laser can be combined with other skin improvement treatments, such as chemical peels or LED therapy, depending on your skin condition and needs.
